photo gallery

The majority of pictures on this site are my own either taken in the last couple of years or they have been handed down to me through generations of my family. A few are postcards that I have bought at ‘postcard fairs’ or on Ebay. Just a few have been given to me by other families whose roots are in the Hillsborough area.

I have endeavoured to avoid using anything that I think might infringe copyright.

More old photographs

I have been asked to include on the website several hundred old photographs. These were donated over the years to the Hillsborough Community Development Trust which ceased to exist in 2006. Many of the pictures are of Owlerton and the surrounding locality. There is also a huge selection of pictures of Sheffield centre. There are simply too many to include on the website so I have uploaded them to a photograph storage site. They are available to anyone who would like to view them. Since the HCDT no longer exists I have no idea who might have copyright. I am making them available in good faith.  I think it would be very sad if they were lost for ever. To view them go to:

For convenience I have grouped the pictures under Buildings, People and Events. There are many pictures of this locality on the Sheffield Library website which is www.picturesheffield.com
