Special Group Project

Research for a  book...  would you like to help?

Buildings in Sheffield 6…Hillsborough, Owlerton and  Wadsley

A history of places and people

I have suggested to the committee the possibility of producing a book with the help of members of the Hillsborough and Owlerton Local History Group about some of the buildings in our locality that were homes and those who lived in them.

I would take on the role of project manager and co-ordinate and edit contributions that anyone wanted to make.

What sort of contributions?

I think these could be different things. E.g:

Researching one or more buildings and typing up the research or supplying me with handwritten notes.

Providing stories about a building that you may have family links with

Lending pictures or photographs that you may have in your family archives.

What buildings?

I think this could be any that have been people’s homes. This is a core list to which others might be added.

Owlerton Manor, Wadsley Hall, Burrowlee House, Dykes Hall, Hillsborough Hall, Dial House, Regent Court Flats …any other suggestions?

Hillsborough Barracks

Land Society Properties, (examples of) e.g.  Hillsborough, Burrowlee etc as I have a lot of family archive material on these.
Pubs and Inns

If you would like to be involved

Please could you make contact with me and give me your phone number and a suggestion of suitable time to ring and I will get in touch with you.

Email: Via this web site comes straight through to my mailbox.

Avoid starting anything for this project before speaking to me as we might then have more than one person researching one building. Also if you plan to type up any research it would be better to have a house style. (Same font, width of margins etc).
